However, if a deer has any obviously pre-existing points but are not scorable due to breakage and the remaining points total 9, this deer is not eligible for this category ( i.e., a 10 point deer with a broken brow or G-3 is not eligible for this category). The total of 9 points may be reached in any configuration of all typical points, typical plus abnormal points, etc. as long as there are no broken points that changes the buck's original number of points prior to breakage. For example, a buck can qualify as a clean, typical 9 with no broken tines, it can also qualify as an 8-point frame with a kicker as long as it has no broken tines. A buck that would not qualify is a 10-point frame where 1 tine is broken, and 9 scoreable points remain. This is a buck which was originally a 10-point.
- Best 8 Point – Deer entered in this category must have 8 and only 8 scorable points that are one inch or longer. Small bumps and points that are less than one inch do not count as ‘scorable’ points, they must be one inch or longer for B&C scoring and for this category. The total of 8 points may be reached in any configuration of all typical points, typical plus abnormal points, etc. as long as there are no broken points that changes the buck's original number of points prior to breakage. For example, a buck can qualify as a clean, typical 8 with no broken tines, it can also qualify as a 7-point frame with a kicker as long as it has no broken tines. A buck that would not qualify is a 10-point frame where 2 tines are broken, and 8 scoreable points remain. This is a buck which was originally a 10-point.
- Best 7 Point – Deer entered in this category must have 7 and only 7 scorable points that are one inch or longer. Small bumps and points that are less than one inch do not count as ‘scorable’ points, they must be one inch or longer for B&C scoring and for this category. However, if a deer has any obviously pre-existing points but are not scorable due to breakage and the remaining points total 7, this deer is not eligible for this category (i.e., an 8 point deer with 1 broken brow or G-2 is not eligible for this category). The total of 7 points may be reached in any configuration of all typical points, typical plus abnormal points, etc. as long as there are no broken points that changes the buck's original number of points prior to breakage. For example, a buck can qualify as a clean, typical 7 with no broken tines, it can also qualify as a 6-point frame with a kicker as long as it has no broken tines. A buck that would not qualify is an 8-point frame where 1 tine is broken, and 7 scoreable points remain. This is a buck which was originally an 8-point.
- Best 6 Point – Deer entered in this category must have 6 and only 6 scorable points that are one inch or longer. Small bumps and points that are less than one inch do not count as ‘scorable’ points, they must be one inch or longer for B&C scoring and for this category. The total of 6 points may be reached in any configuration of all typical points, typical plus abnormal points, etc. as long as there are no broken points that changes the buck's original number of points prior to breakage. For example, a buck can qualify as a clean, typical 6 with no broken tines, it can also qualify as a 5-point frame with a kicker as long as it has no broken tines. A buck that would not qualify is a 7-point frame where 1 tine is broken, and 6 scoreable points remain. This is a buck which was originally an 7-point.
